João Canário Deception Island Today we start the transects survey along the Bay. The most interesting one was between Fumarolas and Pendulo, two active volcanic sites. In a distance about 7 km we did 9 verticals with the multiparametric probe. Salinity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, suspended solids, pH and conductivity were measured at each site and at the GdC station the profiles were uploaded in our computer. The analysis of all profiles will allow us to select the best sites and depths for water sampling and Hg isotope incubations.  Meanwhile at the station, we discuss with Spanish research specialists in the volcanism of Deception the location of other hotspots where the volcanic activity is more pronounced. Thus, we decided to sampling in two more sites: Telefono bay and Obsidian beach. This sampling will take place in the next days according to the logistics of the other research groups and…of course the weather conditions.
