Miguel Medeiros Arctic Lidar Observatory for Middle Atmosphere Research The main goal of the POLARUBI project is to study the aerosol PM10 fraction in a clean environment located 300 km north of the Arctic Circle. After eleven days, measurements continue in ALOMAR (69 N, 16 E), the Arctic Lidar Observatory for Middle Atmosphere Research. At the end of the campaign, these collected samples (aerosol particles) will be packed for further analysis in Portugal. Daily routines consist of filter change, equipment assessment and data retrieval; so far everything is operating correctly, reaching its final days of the campaign. Regarding wheater conditions, clouds predominate most of the time with several occurences of snow. At this time of the year, there are few hours of daylight sun. Due to cloudy conditions the sun is not visible most of the time. Typically the night starts at 16:00 local time, resulting in longer night periods compared to day periods.
