A convocatória para candidaturas a projetos de investigação polar 2020-2021 terminou a 11 Dezembro de 2020, contando com 7 projetos de investigação apoiados, 5 projetos com missões a levar a cabo na região do Ártico e 2 projetos a desenvolver em laboratórios estrangeiros.

Vai estrear na RTP1, o documentário "Migradores de longa distância: Entre Portugal e o Ártico", no dia 6 de Dezembro 2020, às 11:30, que mostra o trabalho de investigação sobre aves migradoras, desenvolvido no Ártico e em Portugal, do investigador português José Alves (Centro de Estudos do Ambiente e do Mar - CESAM, Universidade de Aveiro).

The Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2021 will be held online from the 20th to the 26th March 2021. Framed by the overarching theme “The Arctic: Regional Changes, Global Impacts”, the Science Conference will include oral and e-poster presentations. Despite the focus on the Arctic, several sessions accept contributions on the Antarctic, aiming at fostering networking and advances on research on both poles.

Submissions of abstracts is open until December 10th 2020 for the following themes:

    A) The Arctic: Regional Changes, Global Impacts
    B) The Changing Arctic Ocean: Dynamics and Impacts
    C) Arctic Climate Dynamics
    D) The Changing Terrestrial Environments: Dynamics and Impacts
    E) Unravelling Arctic Ecosystem Dynamics
    F) Education and Capacity Building for The Polar Regions
    G) Living in The Arctic
    H) Observing the Arctic

Each lead author may submit up to one oral and one e-poster presentation. Abstracts text is limited to 1500 characters and the title should not be longer than 150 characters.

The notification on abstract acceptance will be made on 30 December 2020, with the final programme being presented in January 2021.

Oral presentations will be up to 12 minutes. The e-posters are to be submitted as short videos or alternatively in pdf format. Detailed Guidelines will be made available in January.

The abstracts will be organized in a book of abstracts with DOI to be made available in pdf.
